UDS burnout - use old pallets?

Now I'm finished with my latest project...

I can start on my long awaited UDS. I've got a closed top motor oil barrel (shouldn't be lined) that I need to burn out. Would it be ok to use pallets to burn this thing out?

Yep, pallets are usually good hardwood and will do just fine.

It really doesn't matter, I've used cardboard and got the same results.
