Last night my wife and I took our nieces (4yo and 8yo) camping. When we asked them what they wanted to eat, they said pizza. Never cooked pizza over a campfire, but I was so excited with the outcome I just had to share.
I grabbed an old weber lid, and our pizza stone. The campsite already had a grate on the fire ring. The crust was awesome, crispy on the outside and a nice chew on the inside.

I'd say less then 10 min. I just kept peeking instead of going by time. Hey, if your looking, its still cooking.

Thanks, not sure what brand it is. I think it was a wedding gift from almost 10 years ago. Does a company called Pampered Chef make pizza stones? That's a total guess, but sounds like it could be right.

Looks great! Can you give more details about the cook, was it a home made crust etc? The wife and I are advert campers but have never cooked a pizza while camping?

The crust was made ahead of time. Right after I made the dough, I threw it in a gallon ziploc with some olive oil. Into the cooler it went. I don't think I would try to make the dough camping. I try to bring as little as possible. However when we bring kids our definition of "minimal" changes. Although if a person had an RV with kitchen......
It was a small fire right under the grate. Seems like the tips of the flames were about 3-4" below the stone. I put the lid over the stone while the pizza got prepped.
The fire started getting hotter, so dough got pressed out thinner each time. The last one that was made was super thin and only took around 4-5 min to cook. It was the best one. Of course the ladies were full, so that one ended up being all mine.
Definitely will do it again
