I burn the wood down to get a good bed of coals...

then started a skillet of fried potatoes with onions first, and added a pan of sausage

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg74/cowgirls-photos_album/camping/45afbdd6-2.jpg

fried a batch of corncakes with minced onion and whole kernal corn..

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg74/cowgirls-photos_album/camping/6ef66824-1.jpg

then some eggs...

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg74/cowgirls-photos_album/camping/4721364b-1.jpg

the hot corncakes with maple syrup, fried tatoes-n-onions, sausage, eggs and fruit..

As usual it all looks fantastic - I'll point out that you obviously know the right way to fry an egg! I've never made corncakes - looks like I need to fix that.

WOW WOW wOw!!! I looked at the title of this thread and knew right away, that has to be a cowgirl thread.

You are the envy of my cooking life. I am so looking forward to investing in a nice set of Lodge cast iron and getting my camp on! Your recipes and cooking inspire so much!

My 5yo son salivates when I show him the pics of your food over a campfire.

Holy Cow, those look good!! (no pun intended)
I'm going camping on the north shore of Lake Superior next weekend with the family, and will definitely have to try making those for breakfast one morning.

I shouldn't look at this stuff on mornings when I've skipped breakfast.
It's going to be hard to get those images out of my mind.

HOLY CRAP!! Another DT fan! I have yet to see on any forum other than the MP.com or DT.net sites any of us out there.

Nice to see someone interested in not only bbq but rockin music too. Two very complex forms of very basic ideas.

DT= Dream Theater
MP= Mike Portnoy (Former drummer for Dream Theater and founder of the band)

Adrenalin Mob is the band he now runs. I have the majesty (ytsejam) symbol on my right arm. I love the band and it is cool to see someone that does too.

You may know them for a song in the 90s "Pull Me Under". I believe that was the biggest hit they had.

Hello Cowgirl Wow your always very impressive with your cooking.
truthfully I am not sure what I am more impressed with. the Great looking food or that green grass. I have been seeing some rain in the north west of OK. I sure wish it would make it here, we are burning up BAD.

Thank you Hamilton! The grate is 3 1/2' x 2'. It's for my tractor rim but I use it on campground rings too. It's really handy. :-D

Thanks Cvan! Hope you are having a good summer. :) I had to drive to central Oklahoma to find this camp ground. It didn't have a burn ban going on at the time. :-D My area is still brown and crunchy.

Son of a Budhist!!! That looks awesome. OK, I just saw on Tv the other day that on one of the Food channels they are having some gal on there called "poineer woman" going to start her own cooking show. Not to take anything from her, But my money would be on Cowgirl if it came down to a cooking throwdown:thumb:

Thanks Bill! You are too sweet. I've heard of the pioneer woman.. someone who moved from the city and married a cowboy. I'm sure she is a good cook, guess I'm more of a "country" cook.
edited to add...Wow.. I just googled the pioneer woman to see what she's about.... there is an actual "hate" blog set up to bash her.. no one deserves that! I hope her show does well.

Thanks again friends!
