It was a beautiful Sunday in Colorado Springs and perfect for breaking in my Brother-In-Law's brand new Large BGE with some MOINK balls and a nekkid fatty!

It was a good first cook on his new "Lucky" Egg. I say Lucky cause he won it in a raffle at the Denver Eggfest. It was $5 well spent!

The cooking grate looks dark in the pics but it is the stainless version & the nest has the added support bar. It just needs one of Marty's handles!

I usually wrap mine as well but opted not to as we were making a poor attempt at burning off that crud you see on it. My BIL bought a plate setter used at the Eggfest for a decent discount and it included "free cheese drippings". LOL

I tried my best! I think he'll do fine grilling on it but smoking is a whole new game for him and I think the time commitment will be a challenge for him. He does seem willing to give it a shot. He went from considering buying an Egg to owning one in an instant!

I was just judging by the lid, the new shells don't say "Mexico" anymore...And I was told those were better for some reason.

A MOINK ball is sausage wrapped in bacon with rub and sauce. No kielbasa there, that's a fattie which is a breakfast sausage chub.

Here's a little history behind the MOINK ball: http://www.wikquepedia.com/index.php?title=MOINK_Ball
The "what is a MOINK ball?" question gets asked quite often. If you search on MOINK you'll find many threads on it. Here's a recent one that starts off just plain funny but eventually helps out the original poster: http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=112224
