View Full Version : Another first for me... beef ribs

First it was soft shell crabs on the grill... today it's beef ribs. I can hardely believe I've not done these yet, but it's time to give it a shot!

I took the rub I used on pork the other day (coffee, brown sugar, ancho, salt, pepper), and made a wet rub of it by adding about 2 shots of Maker's Mark. I cut the rubs into pairs, and rubbed them liberally. They're on the xl bge now, to be accompanied later with tomato pie done in a slightly different way that I've done before.

OK, you shoudl put a disclaimer on these threads. Having a fellow just open this up and see food pron that good causes drool to get all over the place!

You're just trying to feed my ego, big. :)

Tomato pie is something I've posted before... about 5 years ago, actually... Man, that's a long time ago! http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19331&highlight=tomato+pie

The one I'm going to do today, though, is a variation, with a pie crust instead of a cracker top crust. We'll see how it turns out.

I would love to try some, but I haven't found them in the stores around here yet.

Honestly, tomato pie has become our favorite bbq sidedish, over baked beans, potato salad, just about anything.

Those look great! Beef ribs are a nice change to pork once in a while. Some of the fam here find them fatty but I think they are actually as good or better than pork ribs
