I found a few listings on CL for a 22.5" Weber. Honestly, if I pick one up, I would probably use it for parts in my upcoming UDS builds. I'm going to build one for dad and one for me for Father's Day :becky:. I like the idea of using the kettle lid, but I think for pa's UDS I would rather buy a new grill grate than someone else's used one. However, I'm thinking I want to use the charcoal grate for my fire basket (is it 18"?). Any other useful parts? Also found a Smokey Joe, could I use the 14.5" grill grate for my other fire basket? Let me know your thoughts on the prices too...

Thanks for the help!

So what is this UDS build? I know I already had ideas to build one into a smoker, is that the idea?
I was looking at used webbers for the last year and just gave in to buy a brand new silver 22.5 for $85ish from Home Depot. Picked up some new charcoal baskets and a chimney because I left the other ones with my friend and my smokey joe. Still haven't used it yet since I thought about keeping it clean for a smoking chamber, I am new here so is that what a UDS is?

I picked up a gently used OTS for $20 a few weeks back. the bottom cooking area had been dropped out of a truck, and was slightly out of round, so the lid didn't fit, a few lbs of pressure applied to either side, and it was fine.

On the subject of UDS, ya better get your reading glasses and a pot of coffee:

From what I can tell those prices aren't bad. In the Chicago land area you see a ton of Webers go thru CL.Anywhere from $5 to $40 ish or so depending on condition. Had a chance to buy a 26 3/4 weber kettle innice shape for $20 ish but I passed it up..Hopefully I'll stop being haunted by bad dreams of letting it pass by soon! LOL

Thanks brethren. Anyone else use any Weber parts on their UDS besides the lid and the grates?

I used the daisy wheels as my intakes.
