My Traeger Texas finally died, and I want to know if there's a reasonable way to somehow rig up a firebox along side it, either mounted, or perhaps next to it. Any crazy ideas?

Doubtful.

Itsdone will be along here in a bit, he did something similar but I’m pretty sure his pellet side is still working though.

Died? Control board? Auger? Fire pot? I had a Traeger Texas years ago and can’t see a well used one holding up very long to the rigors of live fire cooking.

Most, if not all, of the parts can be found at Traeger distributors. They're surprisingly cheap, and it can be running better than ever, with a little bit of an investment. Certainly cheaper than buying a new one.

I converted my Pit Boss to a hybrid pellet/offset/reverse flow.
