Here's the basic info on the event. There are 19 registered with 2 more in the mail. Just a few more teams will put this contest over the top and make it one of the last Jack qualifiers for this season. If you're in the area and are looking for a place to cook this weekend, please join in.

Arizona’s longest running State Championship is here again!!!! This time with Eurofresh as our sponsor we are having a couple extra events: a Salsa and Sauce event. Eurofresh is supplying the tomatoes on this so please join in the fun.

The Taylor Corn & Que is an official Arizona State Championship BBQ competition and is put on by The Arizona Barbeque Association. It is also the longest running state championship contest. This year the contest will be held on Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th of August. The championship is KCBS sanctioned and will attract barbecue enthusiasts from all over Arizona as well as neighboring states. As in previous years this contest is held at the Taylor Rodeo Grounds in Taylor, Arizona located in cool Nothern Arizona.

Competitors will complete in four categories, Pork Ribs, Chicken, Brisket, Pork and have the option of competing in "anything but." The championship will have winners in each category in addition to a grand champion of the entire event. The title of grand champion is a qualifier and entitles the winning team to an invitation to the Kansas City American Royal Competition and Jack Daniel's Competition; both of which are national events and require state championship titles to enter. The contest must have 25 teams to officially be a qualifier.

Grand Champion - $2,000
Reserve Champion - $1,000
1st Place each Category - $400
2nd Place each Category - $250
3rd Place each Category - $125
4th Place Each Category - $100
5th Place Each Category - $75

This year there will be a Eurofresh Salsa Festival contest as well as a BBQ sauce contest. Both of those events will be held on Friday night August the 29th.

There is no people's choice, but vendor applications are available on a limited basis. GET YOURS NOW!!! Everyone who vended last year sold out. BBQ Vendors are also welcome to sell Pepsi products.
