Split Pea Soup

Starting with Adam's theme of leftovers
Did this ham on Sunday

The main ingredients

In the pot for 12 hours yesterday and back on at 9am this morning for some more time and develope the flavor

Soup to go in the freezer after an ice bath this evening

My split pea soup is green, and therefor the GF won't eat it for some reason. :crazy:

What were those Marty, yellow peas? Maybe she would eat it if it was the color like yours.

This one was half yellow and half green Brad.

When I clicked I thought I would see pea green which I don’t like.
That looks like something I wouldn’t mind trying.

My knowlegde of pea soup is from a can, Habitant french pea soup. No one here quite likes it, except me. You probably don't get it there. But it's good. Ive never seen pea soup that looked like that. I need to go to school. Thanks Marty!

That looks excellent!

My wife used to make split pea soup using the leftover ham. The leftover dinner rolls make great home made croutons to top the soup, and are easy to make.

I was expecting the green, which I do not mind. Some hot buttered cornbread, some sliced Vidalia onion, and a splash of pepper vinegar to top it off.
