I think it is a corporate event that turned into a KCBS contest, but it is certainly not a typical contest. I was talking to the reps at a contest last year. They said they see some interesting DQ's. One was beef ribs instead of pork ribs (cook decided on beef because they were on sale). Another was for pieces of bacon between each brisket slice.

It is what it is. You have some very good teams cooking and then you have a bunch of teams that only do this event and don't have a clue. You have to get lucky as a judge at this one! The teams at this event that do know what they are doing appreciate the judges that come out because we know that some of the food will be a little off!
