Ran across this the other day: Pit Boss Releases Post Oak Wood Pellets

"Pit Boss is bringing the ability to cook Central Texas style BBQ to more places. They just released Post Oak Blend wood pellets, sold exclusively at Walmart."

But, from the article it sounds like not everyone will be able to get them. No idea why they are restricting them. :noidea:

My biggest complaint is the "blend" part. How much is for hype
and how much is actually going to be post oak and not maple or alder?

I recently upgraded my pellet pooper from the Pit Boss 1100 that I hadn't fired up in 2 years because frankly it sucked, to a Pellet Pro 2300 vertical pellet pooper which I'm loving for week night duty, so I can cook while I work without needing to tend a fire in my offset.

I tried some Pit Boss pellets, the Pecan, and also the Hickory. Then I found a place not too far that stocks Lumber Jack 100% Oak. The difference in smoke flavor was night and day. Let's just say I will not be using Pit Boss pellets going forward.

I’ve never used post oak- how much of a difference does it really make? Granted I’m on a pellet smoker so I’m sure not too much. One day I’ll have an offset lol
