One Grill wanted me to try out a fix for their standard flat basket.

The basket is a "universal fit" but if you have a 3/8 or 5/16 spit rod it pretty much :frusty: sucked arse because the thumb screws would just slide off the spit rod.

The "fix" is sliding on a different sized nut on the thumb screw.

[FONT=&quot]The nuts for the flat basket is a 10-32. The basket thumb screw is a 10-24. This allows the nut to thread on, but seizes the nut to the threads flush with the top of the thumbscrew. From now on OneGrill will ship out those nuts with the basket for use with those that use a 5/16" spit rod which is most of the kettle users. i.e (Weber type kits)

I've been recommending the Menards basket but now for the baskets that are currently available I'm liking the SS OneGrills much better. It's much better metal and the tabs where the thumb screw go through won't bend like the Menards and it's SS so none of that cancer causing agent that they spray on the other.

So for now the Menards is going on the shelf for a backup if it's ever needed.

I have experienced all those issues with my menards basket, this looks like a decent upgrade

Are they sending these out? I will go buy two nuts but it would be awesome c.s. if they'd mail them. I've been wrapping my spit with foil as a "fix" but it's a pain.

I just received a bunch of stuff from OneGrill. It was an excellent retail experience. Maybe this weekend I can spin something

No I'm sure they won't send them out but I'd pick up a couple nuts though. I'd try to use "like metals" so if yours is SS then use stainless nuts. Who knows maybe if you asked they would...IDK

Lowes should have some in their drawers or I'm sure a good hardware store would have them.

I gotta agree, I know they try very hard at good customer service, shipping times etc...

Interesting fix. My older ss basket has a stronger thicker tab. So far so good. Never could figure out why anyone would think a thinner tab was a good idea.

Well the thinner gauge means less production cost for the manufacturer and a cheaper POS for the consumer.

There's a HUGE difference in metal thickness between the one in the picture and my Menards basket, but for a while it was the only game in town for a basket that fit the spit decent.
