We don't really have an Easter cooking tradition in the family other than a gathering of all with an overload of home made food. In times of lockdown, we wanted to do something different. The weather was great over the weekend so decided to fire up the offset and smoke a turkey breast. I seasoned it on Sat with coarse salt, coarse black pepper and a bit of smoked paprika for color. Let it brine overnight.

We wanted some US sides with this US-style cook, so made coleslaw and cornbread.

The misses said it was the best turkey breast ever and she was right (as always :p). It had a huge smoke ring. First time making cornbread but NOT the last for sure.

Yoeri, That Turkey looks perfect!!
My wife made cornbread for the first time too, it was great. Always a great side with Que!!
So ya-all in"Southern" Belgium?

Thanks Rick, we never had cornbread before but loved it. I can´t wait to have some with baked beans or so.

We´re in the northern part of Belgium but I like my cooking like I like my rock music, southern. Be it Spanish, Italian, south US ot south American :-D

Looks awesome!!

Welcome to the world of cornbread...one of lifes simple pleasures. If you havent tried it yet...warm with butter and honey...tasty....or my son likes maple syrup. And as you mentioned...with beans.
