TURKEYS AGAINST CANCER
On the day before Thanksgiving, BBQ Brethren folks and friends will be gathering at a hall in Deer Park (exit 51 off the LIE and 39 off SS Parkway) to divide up food into 50 HUGE family Thanksgiving meals. The meals are being prepared for families from the Breast Cancer Coalition and families of at-risk/homeless veterans.
Each meal will have a smoked turkey, 5 or 6 side dishes, 3 appetizers and 3 desserts.
If you can help out, we would love to have you join us.
The way that this works is that everyone participating brings a bunch of one thing to the hall. Maybe it's 4 smoked turkeys, maybe it's 10 quarts of mashed potatoes, maybe it's 5 dozen cookies, etc.
All the 'like items' are put together (all the stuffing at this table, all the peas at that table), get broken down into quart containers and then boxes for each family are assembled.
It's hard to think of a better way to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving than by helping families dealing w/ breast cancer or those who served our country but have fallen on hard times.
So, if you are the maestro of smoked turkeys or a pie making savant or would like to help out in any other way, we'd appreciate your joining us.
