Hi there, about 5 years ago I joined this forum looking for help on my future build. There were many people who offered suggestion and gave me advice etc on how best to go about building this monster

I realised that I never posted pictures of the completed product. It was a huge success and made feeding 100 people 3 meals a day in the bush soon much easier!

For reference the fire box is 6mm steel and the oven is 5mm steel. The ceramic blanket is 50mm and it has double vents in the fire box and one vent on the chimney / exhaust. It took 60 chickens in one go or 40 and then a couple of pockets of potatoes for the kids to munch on.

Whoa, nice looking cooker!

I notice you're from Jo'burg! My wife is from George! We visited SA ~2 years though it was mostly a west coast trip. Wish we knew you were there at the time. We would have made a point to swing by. How about for the next visit? :)

What type of wood did you use for the smoke? I've been trying to figure out if there is any good hardwood for smoking in SA for the next time I visit. The wife's family and friends made some requests for the future visit.

Regardless thanks for sharing your creation. Looks great

Huh I just realized this was a woodfired oven, not a smoker. Its in the stinking title. Doh!
