Apparently not enough entries

we really look forward to this one as it gives us a chance to catch up with some of my oldest high school freinds, do some fishing, and enjoy Michigan's north woods....guess we need to rework the vacation schedule

I noticed this event drastically increased their prize money from last year. This is never a good idea unless you already have sponsor money in the bank to cover the payout.

My guess it the casino putting on the contest got spooked when they saw they only had a dozen teams signed up a month out. (Unfortunately this is normal for most contests). There are a number of ways the cancellation could have been averted, but it's too late now.

There are a *lot* of cancelled events on the schedule this July. Wonder what's going on out there?

They didnt have the event last year due to scheduling conflicts

I imagine fuel and meat costs going up significantly may have played a part

Hmm. Sorry, I didn't notice the year - just did a KCBS Event search on "U.P." and noticed the disparity between the cancelled contest and the previous one.

I didn't think you could get enough trolls up there for a comp!
Sorry your vac got messed up SS

Yeah, I'm sure that was a big factor. For us it's just too far to go and be back home by Sunday morning. My wife works every Sunday, typically at 8:00am so we need to be home on Saturday night at a decent hour.

We were really looking to make the trip back and the new casino location would have been great. We always stayed there the night before heading into Kingsford, they had a great happy hour!
It will always be a special to us as it was our first G.C.
