Greetings from The Old Dominion. Glad to join The Brethren and learn all about the world of BBQ. I've cooked my share of meats at fundraisers and backyard events and learned a lot from the gaffers in my locality. By far the most popular style around here is the good 'ol vinegar and pepper mop and sauce we inherited from Carolina. I've been experimenting with more dry rubs and mustard based sauces these days but somehow I can't get away from my first love. But hey, It's all good, right?

Right now I'm cooking on a pit I made from cinderblock which sits in the driveway. It is portable as I can put all of the block in my pick-up and re-assemble at the lake. Only problem is it weighs about 800 lbs! Next project is a UDS. Easier to transport and more fuel efficiency.

For small jobs the Brinkman (great for smoked rockfish!) or Weber will do the trick too. So for now Hello and Goodbye! in a pig's eye...

PS is it ok to put my bag of matchlight in my charcoal chimney?

Here you go!
