Just got back a couple hours ago of what was essentially 5 days of BBQ. Went to Fort Worth to take a class with the crew at Goldee’s BBQ. That entire experience was more than I could ever type and not get TLDR. If you ever want a full on immersive experience in the BBQ world then get with them.

Now for the trip, we went through Houston to get to Fort Worth since my wife has to get out and walk every couple of hours since her pulmonary embolism in August. No complaints from me, got some chicken cracklings and boudin for the guys in TX. First stop was Truth BBQ in Houston. Sides were good, meats were really good, desserts were awesome in taste and presentation.

Second stop would be my class at Goldee’s on Thursday, trimmed & seasoned then cooked brisket and Turkey. Was able to go in the next day and assist with ribs too. Best smoked Turkey I’ve ever eaten, both fresh and when I reheated my whole breast when I got to College Station. Didn’t get to try the brisket and sausage or sides, but from being there when they were made I can tell you this may be the diamond in the rough and definitely should be on the new Top 25/50.

Last stops were Brett’s Backyard BBQ and Tejas Chocolate Burger joint. Everything at Brett’s was excellent. Their cream corn and pork ribs along with the sausage were excellent. Tejas was a fun stop in an old town that I would like to spend the day in, not to mention the burgers were really good. Great smoke flavor.

Now enjoy the food pics, I was focused on my class and never thought to take pictures. Wish I would have. The whole turkey was the one we cooked and then reheated two days later. I guarantee you haven’t had a better bite of turkey.

Cool. I grew up in Fort Worth. Haven't lived there since 2000, though. Looks good, but I have never heard of Goldee's. Will have to check it out.

Angelo's is always my place to go.

Sounds like a great time. That last pic!!!

You are right Goldee's is awesome and will be making lists soon enough. The staff has a lot of experience from Franklin, LaBarbecue and Micklethwait. I went to their Grand Opening back in February. Sadly didn't get to try the ribs that day, but I will be going back soon. The sausage there is incredible and they seem to be teaching other joints how to make sausage as well.

Here is a video from my experience.
