Anyone who's watched "The Chef Show" on Netflix will know Roy Choi.

I was that impressed with how he "owns" his part in the show that I got his book from Amazon and consequently had to make these "Kalbi" Ribs.

Incidentally, his book is as much about his life as it is about the recipes. Its' an amazing book.

So, I went to my local Korean Shop and had them cut me some ribs. All up I got about 8 pounds.

Followed the recipe with the marinade and fridged for 2 days before putting them on my little Korean fry plate.

Looking good! Yes I know they'd be better on charcoal. I might do that later, but for now...

Also made some "Splash" (Page 121)

Man they were good. For a Wednesday night the only thing that was missing was Beer. Honestly, you can just cook these up a few at a time and drink beer and shoot the sh!t with friends all night. Sadly I was alone, but they will be on a party menu soon!

Cheers!

Awesome!!

Are there other recipes from the show in his book? I have tried to find recipes for some of the things they cooked but have come up with nothing.

This book is quite old. Published in 2013 with The Chef Show coming a long way after that. However, in the Chef Show Roy goes through quite a lot of blender marinades and these are in the book in various forms.

Pretty sure "The Chef Show... The Book" will be coming though. At least I hope so.

Those look incredible! One of my favorite foods is the Mexican version of those ribs. I can only imagine the Korean version is just as great. I usually cook them on my flat top or on grill grates over charcoal and could easily put away a couple pounds myself

Nicely done, Bill! :clap2:

I live a couple miles from Kogi Taqueria and it's a fanfarkingtastic place to eat. Used to eat at the truck every Tuesday for several years and hit Chego on a regular basis as well.. Roy Choi's food is farking great & if you're ever out this way, hit me up & we'll go - you'll love it! I took Phubar and Padawan there & it was a big hit. Love that book too!

You're doing it right sir! :hungry:

Love that show + Roy. Would you recommend that cookbook? I've been intrigued by I've been holding off on too many more purchases based on the number I already own.

I know someone mentioned not being able to find other recipes of his. Here's one that seems quite similar to the "pork stir fry" they did.

Awesome to hear! You just brought that all home! Yes, One day I will get over there and hit you up for a visit. Fortunately you don't drink, cause I sure can't drink much these days. We'd have a good time.

Really fine!

I bet they would not last long at a party!

Indeed not. I'm doing this in the shed where it's bloody cold. My wife is in the bedroom watching TV and I bring her in a small plate. She's "Sure, whatever, I'll try some." I go back in there later on and she shoves the plate at me... big smile: "MORE"

I wish she'd ask for more of something ELSE in the bedroom! :becky:
