Kettle Fried Chicken :grin:

Actually have never cooked KFC and always wanted to try it, had an 8 pack of thighs so I thought I'd give it a go.

Wimped out and hedged my bets incase they were less than edible, so I soaked 4 thighs in milk then dredged in Pride of the West all purpose batter mix, lightly seasoned the dredged thighs with Slap Ya Mama to give them a little kick. The other 4 were not dredged and seasoned with Loot N Booty Gold Star Chicken Rub.

On the kettle with a small puck of Pecan for smoke, KFC to the left.

Should have went all in, the KFC was great and not that there was anything wrong with the thighs rubbed with the Gold Star, will be doing some KFC again soon.

My wife asked if I could do the KFC with boneless, skinless breasts, she loves her some BSCB (the melba toast chicken). :crazy:
I'm going to have to give it a go, well because. :twitch:
 
Looks great, I just bought a vortex for my Weber kettle and I'm looking forward to doing some thighs. May have to try out the "fried" method. What temp were you cooking at?
 
Looks " Spot On" to me!!! Smart fellow,happy wife= happy life.:wink: Just keep doing the thighs for the cook et al.( and others).

I've wanted to try that too but I only have my kitchen fridge and a beverage cooler under the wet bar. The kitchen fridge stays packed and the beverage cooler stays stocked as well. :shock:

Trying to make room in the garage for another fridge but right now we have too many toys and the wife's hot rod needs a place to park.

Titch just soak in milk and use your favorite batter for frying bird. The Jag doesn't leak and since they were purchased from Ford by the same investment group that owns Range Rover, quality control is pretty much on par with the Germans (Audi, BMW, Mercedes). I tried to talk her into a Merc E300 but she says she's sees one of those one every street corner. :shock: :tape:

Of corse the Jag dealer is 60mi from where we live, hence they're not on every corner. One thing I will say is the super charged V6 gets up and goes and it's a looker. :mrgreen:

KFC looks great. I’m doing some this weekend myself. Drums and thighs. Looking forward to it.

Step son graduated from Bama last year, he and his buds drink the Lites. Great thing is I can pickup a case at the base package store for $16 and a lot of times they have a $2 coupon on the case. Better than drinking my IPA's, Amber Ales, Sours, Porters and Stouts. :wink:

I am curious. When frying chicken in oil, sometimes it is best to coat the chicken and then let it dry on a rack for a while before frying. This helps to set the rust. Does the same apply for this method?
