ButtBurner and Diesel Dave put together another cook for PBJ
http://www.pbjoutreach.org/
This time was a fund raiser for PBJ. We smoked 200lbs of pork butts over night on Dave's Lang smoker and Brian's Shirley Fab smoker. Being one handed due to surgery, I wasn't all that much of a help. The smokers were fired up, butts rubbed and on they go. Whoo boy was it cold last night ( around 52 degrees it said, but everyone's breath was in the air) This morning Smoking Ninja showed up to help. I left as I would be in the way of all the other volunteers that were to show up to help sell BBQ pulled pork sandwiches to raise money. A local church was nice enough to let everyone use their kitchen/facilities and a place for us to cook. Any way's, here a couple photo's I took. I had to use my truck head lights to light the place up enough to get the butts on the smokers.

I'm really impressed with how fast you can adjust and stabilize that Shirley smoker and very even cooking. Not to take away from the Lang, just the ease of use and clean burning etc.

thanks guys.

another successful cook is in the books.

Im sore and tired. But its a good sore and tired.

A few more pics.

We put Dave's Lang out front when we were finished cooking to draw in the people

Ninjas were orange?? Who would have known...:thumb:

Thanks to The Plymouth Church of Christ for providing the facilities.

And thanks Ebijack for spending the night. you were a big help

Thanks everyone!

This was a great cook and a great time to spend with friend :heh:

It's great to have a ninja on our team he is a big help.

I was told by one of the folks who took the money some people were coming back for another meal and some had gone home and told their neighbors to get up there to buy some of the best bbq they ever tasted!

thanks to ALL of the sponsors Michigan Custom Que has that make these cooks possible and to everyone who came out to help!

Ebijack it was great to have you there to keep us company my friend!

Doing those over night cooks take special folks. Dave I don't know how you do so many. But with all that amount of time tending fires, we get to know a lot more about each other.
Another one of Brian's friends who is not from the Brethren, showed up to help. He is a disabled vet and was a great help. I'm glad I was able to take part and do what little I could. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Tom is talking about my buddy Dean.

Thanks to Dean, Dave and Tom I was able to get some much needed rest overnight during this cook on the couch in the church lobby. Putting these cooks together is not easy at times and can be stressful as I tend to worry and sweat out every detail so things run as smooth as they can. Sometimes I dont sleep well at night in the days approaching the cook

thanks again
