Pretty Good BBQ 2012, Dayton, Ohio

Sadly, I cannot attend this year. We've got a comp that weekend in Liberty, IN. I teamed up with another brethren and have committed to the season and really don't want to skip.

I was REALLY looking forward to this too.

I know you all will do great things in the name of BBQ, the Brethren and charity and the love of your fellow man. Thanks for that. Sure wish I could be there guys.

Men are signing up to help over the weekend, and donations are coming in. We'll be pushing that a bit this next week or so, as we're only about a month out now! I'm looking forward to it.

It's funny how some guys would gladly buy meat to donate, but don't want to donate the same money for some reason. We want to buy everything at once, so it's not frozen and has to thaw, and so we can get the best price possible.

Have you talked to a supplier to see if they'd either donate some of the meat or at least give you a solid price on the proper meat u need?

Yeah, we're talking with a couple places, and a restaurant or two may be helping us out. What would you consider a good price? We're just doing pork butts.

And I'm making Scotch Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies to have, and will be cooking something for y'all on Saturday night, too. I think the dinner will be us and some guys that are helping out. Any suggestions for dinner, requests?

And we'll do the MOINK ball competition again, and ABTs on Saturday evening. I'm thinking of adding an Anything Butt category, what do you all think? We'll get probably 9 racks of ribs to cook through the evening for the popo to partake in, too.

Also, if someone reading this wants to contribute but can't make it to the cook, please contact me. I'm not asking for donations, but I also want people to have the opportunity. Donations will be tax deductible. If you don't have PMs, you can contact me directly at curt (at) livefireonline dot com, taking out the spaces, swapping an @ for at, and a . for dot.

Did a long range calendar planning session at work today, and I have bad news.

The crew from the Wyocena Yacht Club won't be able to make APGBBQ this year. It's the same weekend my 12 yp twins and the SoDT leave on their Ambassador trip to Washington DC, and I'll need to stay home with the oldest.

You have no idea how this breaks my heart.
I love cooking this event.
I love seeing all of my Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, etc... friends.

I guess I'll just have to cook here and stay up all night with the rest of youse guys.

Ok... Now less than a month out... Let's do an unofficial roll call...

Please let me know if you have definite plans to be in Dayton, Ohio, on May 5 and 6, 2012 to participate in the Pretty Good BBQ.

Great. :)

BTW, I put up a poll on the Facebook page that's up... If you respond here, don't respond to the poll, or vice versa (if you responded to the poll, you don't need to respond here, or, if you do, make sure to say who you are there so I don't double count you).

Ok Curt, I've been on the Facebook page and signed up on the equipment sheet already there so don't count me twice.

We're getting guys involved... next week, we're getting together for pizza and to talk to anyone that's able to show up to volunteer.

Looking at 700 lbs... How does that sound?
