About time I got one of these round number posts!
You just missed it!
It shows yours as 7001
The "rust" looking spots look dreaded red/pink lining on some food grade drums. I have one out in the back yard and it is the same shade of pink. Are the spots really smooth or rough?
Dangit, I was on my android and it shows reply counts before you open the thread but not the post count. Hey, I had the 7000 reply.Strange. It's 7002 over here, with you at 7001.
Work in Progress...
I am thinking of doing some different stuff on this one. Open to any suggestions. As you can see I fashioned a cart out of some salvaged shelving and, yup, more bed rails (I love those things:crazy. Still sticking to the concept of keeping it cheap and using what is around and easily attainable for anybody. One thing I am thinking about is trying a different style of intake regulation.
Anyway, just wanted to post a teaser and see if anyone had any interesting suggestions.
Edit: Sorry for the bad pic. Stupid phone camera. I didnt realize how bad it was until the photo posted.
Looks good so far.!!! keep us posted.
The photo makes me want to go REEEEEAL redneck and build a UDS on a shoping cart "chassis" :becky:

Cooked 120 lbs. of chicken wings this weekend at a "Chicken Wing Cookoff". Won People's Choice Award!!
People said that was the best wing they had ever eaten!
Had to explain how the drums "work" at least 50 times during the event!
Just had 4 open top barrels delivered last night. 2 lined and 2 unlined. Got them all for $30 with delivery. Can't wait to start the build this weekend.
Anybody come up with cheap alternatives or materials for grates? I know you could use expanded metal and fashion your own grates but by the time you purchase the metal its more than what a Weber replacement grate would be. Just looking for ideas if anyone has gone down this path.
