A BBQ Brethren Event **NYS Championship. 4th annual Battle of The BBQ Brethren. August 7-8. Application is up ***

ok..heres another hint..

The event is brand new, we are on the ground floor and helping to build it as a county fair. There will be bands, rides, craft fairs, etc..

This is a fundraiser event for Special Needs Kids, Our host and organizer of record is the Police Athletic league.(PAL) Our job(BBQ team liaisons) is to help raise money and still have the entry fees go to the prize pool and ensure everything we need we have and its team friendly. (Water, electric, ice, etc.)

(Disclaimer: this is what we are working on arranging now, as in today, tonight.) We will be doing a buck a bone contest on Saturday(meats are supplied to the teams by a sponsor), for The coveted peoples choice trophy. The public pays a buck a bone for tickets then wanders around to the teams. We exchange tickets for ribs. Public gets one vote for every 5 tickets and at the end, team with most votes wins. The public window is 2-4PM Saturday. All bucks goes to PAL Special needs kids. If you were at Troy, we are modeling after them.

It would be awesome if we can get some of our out of state teams to join us.. The Sayville Battle of The BBQ Brethren was a good contest, we want to grow on that footprint and make it great! This one is for a great cause and we are helping build it from the ground up.

Now.. i have said too much.. this is whats IN THE WORKS and Im on the hook already for sanctioning.. and the infrastructure is 99.98% approved. We are trying to get sponsors for meats, supplies, fees, etc.. Please dont pounce on me, this is in the works, and i will keep you posted.

12 1/2 hour drive.
137 toll booths.
That weekend is actually open....

Couldn't move it to the west side of the state?

Sweet. BBS, be sure to bring your California sprouts with you. We cook real BBQ in NYC. ;)

1) Applications will be available soon (for both teams and judges).

2) We will be forever indebted to the town of Sayville and most importantly, the Sayville Chamber of Commerce, but we have outgrown their capacity. The Battle of the BBQ Brethren put a tremendous strain on their resources, especially as it grew in size so dramatically each year. We needed a place where we can comfortably grow and eventually become the largest competition in the north east and they needed to have the ability to actually have a fall festival that wasn't monopolizing space and resources on us.

The Battle of the BBQ Brethren will no longer be held in Sayville.

Sayville is a fantastic town and we encourage everyone who has enjoyed their hospitality the past few years to continue to visit when you are in the area.

We firmly believe that you will be duly impressed by the size and scope of the new venue. If we maintain a 20% annual growth rate, this location will be able to comfortably handle the event for the next ten years.

Damn, that is the weekend of my golf outing...

You still have the Bud Girls!:thumb:

For those in the Northeast, or that are able to travel....this sounds like a great event that has a lot of potential to grow, and is starting out with all of the important things already in place. I'd be very tempted if I didn't already have a commitment that weekend!

Congrats, and best of luck to everyone that has put in the work to make this happen!

The Polocks are coming out of their year long hiatus for this one. So gentlemen, hide your women and put on your crash helmets, because we're in!

Too bad to those that won free admission to Sayville and cannot make the August dates.

Also good that it is growing and growing and growing.
