Default Comp Generators

Hi,

What sort of generators do you use at comps (when you do use them)?

Thanks!

Eric

I have 2 Honda EU2000's. Both of them linked together will run our toyhauler and one will run our 16' box trailer. We use them up at our riding cabin also. Very quiet and very dependable.

Honda EU3000is Handi

I think most teams who compete regularly use either a Honda, a Yamaha or a Kipor quiet generator. BUT... Every once in a while you run into a team who either hasn't competed, or just plain doesn't care, and they use a construction generator. Those things are so noisy that I have seen the comp reps ask them to shut them down.

ALso, I saw this generator on another forum and the guy who posted it said that it is as quiet as the Honda but only about $500 at Sams. He's going to buy one to test.

Honda 6500. I believe the quietest generator out there.

I bring my PowerHouse PH3100Ri to every comp, but only crank it up if power is inadequate. Rated at 56–65 decibels and priced around $1,200.

Two Honda 2000's. Had s kipor 3000 as well. In our 2nd season I was one of this loud generator guys at a comp and to this day still feel like an ahole for using it.

I originally saw it mentioned on another BBQ forum, but it was one line in one post, so not worth linking. The poster did point me to this thread on the RV.net forum...

77 pages!
That is pretty impressive. On page 75 the guy tested the Champions (2 of them) at 57db at eco mode... and mid 60s when cranking. That's about on par with many of the Honda "Super Quiet" models... nice.

And they're supposed to be $500?!

EDIT : Yeah it looks like $680ish is the best price online.

I saw that. I haven't checked to see if my local Sam's Club has one, but I'd like to see it for myself.
