Default Is my friend nuts or what?

He wants to set up a smoker with an auto spritzer, camera, temp and humidity sensors, variable speed fan/blower and control it via wirless computer.

He does do automated control's for a living.

Just remember, the more complicated you make it, the easier it is to mess it up. Just saying...

Sounds cool, but would a camera work? Wouldn't the lens just get all smoked-over? Other than that it sounds interesting!

Thats the first thing I thought, but otherwise....fark it why not? With the new wave of technology and TVs coming out with the internet I think it would be awsome if you could get a picture in picture on your TV with all your stats and stuff. Yes its COMPLETELY unnecessary but if you guys do the work Id love to see the results

I think I do something very similar for a living. I work with industrial controls I have thought about it to make it affordable get everthing from E-bay and consider a consumer grade camera.

I would do it, but I don't find that it is cost or time justifiable considering results I can get with cookers the way they are now. That doesn't mean i still wouldn't like to do it if I had the extra time and money to do so. I say let him do it.

Sounds nuts, but what the hey - what do I know? I'm just the pitmaster for the Funny Farm BBQ team? If it works, you could just send him to Kansas and check him into our institution - he'll have to supply his own straight jacket though.
