October 2010 BoD Meeting

This is disturbing….

The board is ‘Accepting Reports As Written’ and not reading the reports during the meeting. Why don’t they just go into Executive Session from the first roll call and then come back to adjourn?

So then if your written report says "no activity" I guess that's better than "No Report" in the minutes:rolleyes:

I emailed Carolyn Wells regarding this and she said that it would make the meeting to long.

My response was that I wouldn't be able to read the reports until after the next meeting and that really doesn't do me any good if there is something I object to and need to discuss with a member of the BoD...

The committee reports should be read prior to the Board Meeting, its the duty of the Board Member to come prepared. Personally, I think the committees should be given more autonomy to perform duties to let the board refocus on what they really should be doing - driving the strategic direction of the organization.

Tell me why the board should hear every single contest that's petitioned for sanctioning vs. letting the committee review and make recommendations to the board with the board voting to approve / reject the committee reports and action. Simple formats for each committee, specific to that committee can provide all the information a board member would want to know and ask questions during the overall. The Board HAS to learn to be more efficient and drive this organization like a business, not as a little fiefdom
