Does hot & fast work on a UDS? Or does the direct heat kill it?

I use a diffuser in my UDS and have had good results that way. I haven't tried it without a diffuser.

Low and slow is a great method and I have seen some great results. But, I just don't want to baby sit a brisket for 12 - 14 hours, especially when I can get good results with this method.
