Default Morden, MB Manitoba Open August 28/29 2010

There has been no mention of the only KCBS event North of the border this year. Morden, MB is a little over 3 hours North of Fargo, ND. It's just across the border. This is the 3rd or 4th year of the contest, this year they switched from PNWBA sanctioning to KCBS in hopes of drawing more US teams.

The organizers are very excited to announce:
1) Moe Cason of Ponderosa BBQ is registered and is excited about making the drive up to Canada
2) We have official confirmation from Debbie Christian of the 15-team Automatic qualifier status. We are at 18 teams now, so the winner is going to the Jack! On the last qualifying weekend nonetheless. It's an invitation to the 2011 Royal also of course.

Other details:
  • Contest being held in a really nice campground, just steps away from a lake. Each cook site is a pull-through RV site, with 30 amp power and water hookups.
  • Cash prizes of $5,000.
  • Our currencies are virtually at par these days.
  • Contest is held during the Corn & Apple festival, the biggest rural festival in Manitoba. There are TONS of activities for the family.
  • There are some limitations to bringing meat across the border. With 2 people you should be fine.
  • The level of competition experience up here is lower than you're used to. That being said I have no plans on letting a US team take home the big prize
Feel free to ask questions, I sure hope we can attract some more US teams.

Probably a good thing it went KCBS and not PNWBA, that is a looong haul and there are only a handful of road warriors out here.

Good luck to the US team looking for an easy Jack bung with PS&S in the house!
