Default BBQ Injury ?

Sat. afternoon started out perfect... ribs spiced and wrapped and ready for smoke. Just fire up smoker and...uh oh ....I sarted a chimney of lump to get thing started and while moving to smoker a quarter size red hot coal escaped and was steped on by bare-foot BBQ'er. WOW that was HOT 3rd degree quarter sized burn on bottom of foot. The DR said Couple weeks off work (I do a lot of walking on the job)

Just wondering if anyone else has had self inflicted 'Q injuries?

Ye-ouch!! Just Thursday I figured out that if I'm going to carry a chimney full of hot coals over to my smoker, DON'T WEAR SANDALS! A small lit coal dropped on my toes and wedged in between my sandal and the top of my foot. Yanked my foot right out of the sandal. Didn't get burned too bad, and actually kept the sandals on when I refuelled the next time, but carried the chimney with my arm extended and watched it closely. Yesterday I made sure to wear shoes(and socks).

Kinda hate to admit it.... but, I manage to do this at least once a year. I have a real hard time getting shoes to fit, and sandals set on my feet sideways.

Had my own run in with a kettle couple of weeks ago. Healing up nice, but it looks like it won't be as cool a scar as I thought it would:

Who knew that the weedburner with giant flames shooting out was the safe way to do it

My First "bra"
I got my first BRA!!

I was happy, relaxing in a comfortable chair wrapped in a warm and cozy coat as my Lang stayed rock solid at 235 Degrees.

All was as it should be. The smell of Q in the air, and me, without a worry in the world.
Then at about 4AM when my peace was interrupted by a message from my kidney's.
I made my way to the facility to take care of mother natures call. When relieved, I washed, and made my way back to the cooker
to recapture the peace I enjoyed earlier.
I smiled as I saw my Lang, I was truly having a great time.

The next thing I know my Zen state was broken by a section of curbing that I didn't see.
I tripped and fell to the ground like a ton of bricks.
This was my first Barbecue Related Accident (BRA) and it resulted in a broken wrist.
Who would have ever thought you could break bones this way.
When it was all said and done the brisket and other meats turned out great and I would
do it all again in a minute.

So to all your brothers, be careful this can be a dangerous sport

So are you starting to search ideas for all the 'Q you can fix while you're off work?

I was doing Q for a friends wedding rehearsal dinner a few weeks back and got careless using a dull knife. Three stitches in left ring finger and a couple hours later and I was back on duty. The hospital was over 30 minutes away, but when the nurses and doctors found out what happened and what I was doing, they rushed me through and talked Q with me the whole time. A PIA, but turned out okay...

Sorry to hear about your accident, btw.
