Inaugural Run:
I got about 1 hr. per pound of competition briquettes out of her. I felt that I should have had less trouble getting hotter than 225 with the 20 lbs of pork in the drum. It was 270 before I put the meat in. After, it stayed down around 200 for quite a while. It was very stable though. The last time I used the Kingsford comp. briquettes it seemed like they didn't run as hot or as long as Royal Oak. I am going to try lump and see if that is hotter and/or lasts longer. What kind of fuel consumption are you guys getting?

Nice build Frog. I like the attention to detail and the hand crafted parts. For fuel I run Stubb's briquettes, less ash and cleaner burning.

Aweome looking UDS. Like the fire basket. I need to redo mine so it's better air flow.
Mine runs about the same temps as yours and doesnt get much hotter... I think alot of it has to do with my fire basket and it's height... |

I used 1" x 3" rectangular tubing that I trimmed down to stick out 2" from the side of the drum.

Looks good. I feel your pain on the beige liner. It was tough but not tough enough. What are all the brass fittings on the front for? Optional thermometer placements? And, what about the two up top?

For sticking one or more thermocouple thermometers through so I can monitor the meat without opening.
Yeah... hated the beige liner... I still hate it. If I saw another one I would have to ask it to step outside.
