Man Phrasty!! I'm so jealous of you! I've been begging my wife to let me build one but she said "I don't won't you to get blown up"
It looks very nice! I can't wait to see the finished product! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Phrasty your right about the doors. The right door opens or both. I don't mind that myself, and as far as the temp recovering quickly after the doors have been open... Hasn't been a problem.
As far as the size of my tank, I think its probably 100 gallons. It's an air compressor tank. Didn't have to worry about any explosion problems when I cut into it! (Not that I would worry too much about it once it was purged.) As far as the smoker being hard to move around.... Well, it does weigh 620 lbs. however, I can load it and unload it on my utility trailer by myself. I originally had hard rubber tires on it. Would have been better off using logs and animal fat to move it! So I put the pneumatic tires on it.... made a world of difference Wish I could be there for the inaugural smoke in Jamaica.... I know it will be world class Q!

Hey everyone... I feel like I owe you guys an update!! It's been a long day so I'm gonna make this quick. Had a freak lightening storm for a couple hours which kinda messed up the day (build-wise.) Didn't get done as much as I wanted.
I've been working on the Coal grate/basket a bit. I still have a little more work to do on it. I cut the internal baffles out of a sheet of the 1/4" metal. Got the smoker raised up on temporary legs and bolted in. Marked out the opening for the FB and cut it out, and Fitted the FB into the cut. I have a little cleaning up and grinding to do, but God willing it should fit up quite nicely! Cheers.

Wassup guys... well I been fighting the rain all farkin week! As 3:00 comes it's PISSING with rain, thunder, lightening... the works. Not quite the environment to weld in! However, I did get some work done today and I'm glad to officially say from this point on its just details (minus the obvious trailer problem... or lack thereof) So we got the firebox attached today and it went flawlessly! Was a bit nervous about it fitting snugly together, but it was like "buttah"
![]() Today we got the firebox on, cut the FB-SC hole and welded in the FB deflector. I'm getting there! Theoretically she can be smoked on now...• Exhaust chokes • Finish up the coal grate • Food grate hold downs • Cleaning up welds • Overall grinding of edges and smoothing out • Do some welding touch-ups • Tuning plate slides & push handles • and hopefully light a nice farkin fire in there to loosen up the paint for grinding (not gonna get to sand blast!!!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah that's gonna be fun! •*and eventually I need to get some metal legs on her... Ok guys here are the pics to date. What you guys think? Cheers

Just thinking here.... but are you going to secure the tuning plates somehow, or just let them slide? If you find a trailer (and maybe a forklift) that you want to mount it to or carry it on, it might help to prevent the plates from moving after you have figured out the tuning.
I am sure you have it worked out though, it is really coming along.

did I miss an angled deflector plate from firebox into the cook chamber? Or do you think one is not needed with the tuning plates?? This is really an impressive build! Nice job!
