Default uds

Son of a budhist that liner is hard to get off! I am working on my first uds and have been burning that rascal out pretty good, 1 more should get it, but that #*%$&&#$ lid is a pain, I am wire wheelin and looks like someones fixin to buy himself a weedburner. If I lit a really good fire in the drum and set the top where it would burn do yall think it would warp the lid?

I wouldn't worry much about the lid.

I did an entire drum with two "poly-carbide" pads on a 4" angle grinder. It took me 5 hours to do the inside and out, top and bottom. All I can say is wear a respirator, goggles, etc.

It looks like a scotch brite pad, and worked better than anything else I tried. Other things tried were wire wheels, cable twisted wire wheels, and 60 grit sanding discs. I did not try a flap disc.

I bought the pad from Harbor Freight for around $5.99. It looks a lot like this one, but this isn't it: I can't find the exact one that goes onto the 5/8" arbor for the angle grinder.

I saw this one at Home Depot, which is the same thing, I think:

The Norton Rapid Strip wheels from HD work great on the red liner. They take it down to bare steel MUCH faster than the wire wheel...just FYI

The weed burner will warp the lid. It did mine anyway.
