Default Probe holes in WSM?

What to use to replace the bolts that hold the cooking racks, to run temp probes through? I tried hollow wall anchors....

any hardware store answers?

Try rocksbarbque.com . Got mine from them and worked perfectly. Had a delay in shipment, complained, then shipped immediately. Called sensor grommets I believe.

Rivnuts would work, though I doubt you would get more than one probe through, unless you drilled out the holes and used a larger rivnut.

I like the Guru eyelets because they are stainless steel and do the job.

I've also got a couple of the Cajun Bandit probe grommets which are essentially the same as the ones Rocks sells. 6 to one, a half dozen to another-they all work fine for me.

Brian or anyone, do you know if the grommets from Rocks or CajunBandit are any larger in interior diameter than the BBQ Guru ones?

The guru ones are nice, but I wish they were a milimiter wider.

That's kinda why I say using a larger rivnut and drilling out a bracket hole would be ideal. Its a PITA threading 2 probe/wires through one hole.

The Guru eyelets are flush when applied, the Cajun Bandit/Rocks grommets are @ 3/4" long, so threading a probe that has a 90* bend can be a hassle too, with a wire in place.
Plus the fact you end up threading through the cook grate adds to frustation.

There have been time when I just said screw it and told myself when I get home from this comp I'm drillin' into the dayum thing!

I made some probe eyelets from brass truck tire air valve stems, drilled them out and use them on some of my drums, the pics are not very clear, but they work great, and were recylcled, which makes me feel good about offsetting my carbon footprint while Q'n! (yeah right!)

The Stoker sensor grommets are a little larger then the Guru sensor grommets.
I found this out when I got my Stoker and realized the stoker probes didn’t fit through my Guru grommets. Now I have both. The ones that aren’t used are plugged with foil.

Try Tacoma Screw, McClendons or Wesco Autobody Supply for rivnuts.

Greenlake in Seattle? That was my old stompin' grounds!
