Mary B is a woman who is like a grandmother to me but not related. My grandparents all died when I was very young so I didn't know them too well. Mary has been a very close family friend forever and she was like my adopted grandmother. Her cooking was out of this world and yesterday I got her tomato hot sauce recipe. I tweaked it just a bit adding a bit of cilantro and I grilled all the vegetables except the tomatoes. It came out awesome and I really enjoyed it. Plus its easy to make and keeps for quite a while in a container in the fridge. Hopefully someone here will enjoy her recipe as much as I do. It's great with chips, on fajita tacos and just plain good on everything.
Mary B’s Hot Sauce 2 medium 14oz cans of peeled tomatoes or equivalent fresh roma tomatoes 4 -6 small cloves garlic chopped ½ onion sliced Palm full of chile pequin or 4 fresh jalapeno peppers 1 tsp of kosher salt ½ bunch of cilantro Grill jalapenos and onions over medium heat until soft Boil tomatoes just until boiling then toss into blender with chopped garlic, onion, peppers, salt and add 1 tbsp of white vinegar to preserve. Blend until smooth.

Very similar to my Mom's recipe. I like to add a little lime juice. It helps give it a subtle, but refreshing flavor.

hehe, I missed that. It probably depends on how long you want the guests to stay.
If using canned tomatoes, I usually add from 1/2-1 T. The longer they've been in the freezer, the fewer I add. The heat does intensify.

Lol I guess it depends on the hand. That's the way she wrote it so take into account woman hands. This was a small woman so I wouldn't use a big old man palm full. I like it spicy but not too spicy. Jorge I was thinking of trying that the next batch I will definately do so.
