Question Calling all UDS Kingsford Kettle Modders. Exhaust questions??

After months of my UDS with the Kingsford kettle hat, I am beginning to wonder if the exhaust valve is sufficient.

I guess I could measure the exhaust port sq area and compare that to 8 half inch holes sq. area. Whats everyone else think, does it seem sufficient?

The creosote build up on the indide of the lid is great and most of the time it builds up during the cook and drips on the food.

Another option is to block the valve and drill holes as suggested in the Big Lots Kettle thread, (where I got the whole idea).

What chall think??
