I have a gig for 75 ~ 85 people this weekend adults and children mix. To do pulled pork and boneless skinless chicken breast. I have got 50 breast and 20 legs.
Okay on to the main question how many Boston butts do I through in the smoker? I was thinking 4 - 8.5 lbs butts should cover it after pulled and sauced? What do you all think?

I think most people figure about 1/2 lb of pulled pork per person. Being that you lose about 50% during the cook, you can figure about 1 lb uncooked butt per person.

When serving more than one meat and sides to a group consisting of men, women, and children, I usually plan on 6 people per pound of cooked meat. Kids and women eat less and the men and teenage boys eat more. You should be safe with 34 lbs of butts.

I was going to ask this also. Doing a neighborhood party for 40 in two weeks. Think my guess is close. If not they will have to come early to get meat.
