Default correct metal for tuning plates?

Putting new plates in Priscilla this week... Anyone have an opinion of the best metal to use?

IT was suggested for my offset to use 2 10" pcs of 1/2" plate and then step down to 6" of 3/8 " plate. Jamb the first piece tight against the firebox end/baffle and increase spacing by 1/4 " as you install additional plates. Your spacing may be plus or minus those.
I would match the plate size(thickness) to your baffle size(thickness).
I haven't "tuned" mine per say, but the results have been a more even cooking temp across the pit.
Best metal = free scrap plate cut to size...:)

Well I don't know Priscilla, but in my Silver Smoker which has a 16" dia. smoke chamber, I use 1/4" thick steel plates that are 5" x 16" and move them around for different effects.

Mine are 6" x 13" I think, I use 5 or 6 per pit. They really do help even the temps out.
