Default Which Comp. is most prestigious?

So of the three main "Championships":

American Royal
Memphis In May
Jack Daniels

Which is the most prestigious to win?

I would have to say the American Royal would be the most prestigious just because of the sheer number of teams that show up. On the other hand you have international teams that come from all over the world so that would be a close second in my mind.

IMHO, they're all equally prestigious. A champion in one is no less a
champion than another.

If there is a perceived difference, I'll bet some of it has to do with the
region that you're located (ala. Royal in KC area) or they primary type
of sanctioning body you prefer.

In any of the 3 on any given year the competitors will get to compete
against the best of the best for that year. Same / Same IMHO.

Started competing in chili cookoffs back in the 1990's and have competed in more than I care to count. I became a CBJ in MiM in 2005, then MBN and in GBA in 2010. I've probably judged 130+- BBQ comps (sanctioned and unsanctioned) over this time. That said, I really enjoy competing more than I enjoy judging, and hope to get back to doing 4 or 5 a year in the near future.

I think I've seen this same thread more often than Gilligan's Island reruns!

The best answer is "whichever one you took the Grand at", but my personal opinion is The Jack. (But then I'm a Southern boy, so I'm biased).

Me too.

Think I'll have some grits for breakfast.
