And how did you do in the comp?

Man, just wish I could find brisket.... Couldn't get one this weekend. Paid $6 per # for pork butt this weekend and did that instead. If I want brisket I have to special order from a downtown butcher and wait like 4 days for it to come in.... Wish I could just walk into a store and get boston butts and brisket on demand.... Costco doesn't even sell these cuts here.... And I had to wait 2 days for a shipment of butt at my local grocer....

Bacon 99, How far are you from the states? I pay $1.69 for Angus Brisket but I use 7-9 cases a week.

You guys are so lucky on the East side of the state. Bubba rubs it in all the time how cheap packers are over there. It isn't the same over here on the West side. Packers are like yeti sightings.

Stupid question, but what's CAB?

Packer is a brisket with the flat and point still together. It is not trimmed and has a hard fat cap on it They usually run around 12-18 lb

You bought a brisket from Kohn's? Wow you paid a bit! I had one from there once that some one else cooked on a gasser cause they keep kosher. It was great brisket, but not BBQ, and not worth whatever they paid to be sure (He's an MD:) Last time I shopped there Sam's in Maplewood regularly carried whole briskets. Sam's in The Valley had them on occasion, but they special ordered them for me before. I'd buy them buy the case and throw them in the deep freeze to "age."

To the OP, any Sam's club can order whole beef brisket from from Bentonville, but they may ask you to buy the whole case, or may not. They also may get shorted from the DC. Having the NAMP code, 120, may be helpful in getting the right thing. You can buy flats there as well, but usually the cost of the flat alone (NAMP 120A) is about the cost of a whole brisket. I generally pay about $1.55/lb-$1.70/lb at Sam's depending on the week and wether or not I'm buying a case. I think Costco has about the same things and prices, but I don't shop there. Years ago in Memphis I used to get whole briskets at Kroger for $0.99/lb...those were the days.

I've never seen a $.99/lb brisket around yet. Pork butts? $6/lb? OMG! Usually someone has them for $.99/lb around here. The price of meat will probably go up a lot because of the Pitmasters show. :)
