Default The classic Southern combo:

Chainsaws and beer!

Don't worry though, my total consumption was 1 beer and 3 glasses of homemade lemonade. Got a nice stash of red oak chunks out of it though:

Me and my father-in-law took down a small red oak on his property in Kentucky last Thanksgiving, so it was nice and seasoned.

Tried Canola oil instead of regular bar oil in the chainsaw, didn't seem to make too much difference. At least I don't have to worry about inhaling anything funny. Only used about 1/4 of my stash, cut the logs in to 3" or so discs, then used a hand axe to chunk it up.

Love that red oak! If you haven't used it for smoking or grilling, give it a shot. It really goes well with beef IMO.

Oooo, nice work Mark, that is some nice work. I never worried about the chain oil before though.

Just hope nobody says, "Hold my beer and watch this".

Neither have I. Just thought I'd give the canola oil a shot and see how much difference it made in the cutting action. Wasn't too much difference.

Thought I would give the new oak a try with some grilled grouper tacos. Sorry about the cell phone pics:

Grilled grouper taco with chipotle cream sauce and chipotle slaw.
