I always thought gumbo making was a six pack of dark beer kind of thing. To get roux a color that matches the beer you needed to drink all six while stirring. But I like where you are going with the Bourbon.

I stirred that roux for 2 hours but I still didn't get the color I wanted. I only got to Chaka Khan not Grace Jones.
