Because there aren't any Ks in Royal Oak lump, the block of concrete helps focus and refract heat.

Get enough of those big bonus prizes (it is sort of like Cracker Jack) and you can get a real cool wall stacked up.

I had the same in my RO a few bags ago, about the same size as yours.

That same bag also has a metal pallet strap in it too.

I apologize to the RO fans (and I know there are a ton out there), but I have never been a fan of their product. it is easy on the wallet, but I have not been happy with their briquettes or lump.
I see nothing here that would change that opinion

Contact RO with the info on the bag, and get them to replace the bag or send some coupons.

Dang, that's a good idea, going to start taking pictures from now on!

I'm really happy with RO, used to use Kingsford when I didn't know better. And was always dismayed with the last bit in the kingsford bag always being dust. Haven't had that problem nearly as much with RO lump or briquettes.

I've been using Ozark Oak. I like it a lot better than anyh other lump I've tried. It ranks at the top on the Naked Whiz site. I don't find the rocks like I did in RO. I have a rock collection and it even includes a metal band that came out of the bags I've used. Everytime I buy a bag of RO when I'm in a bind, I always find something other than lump in the bag.

Yup, while smokin a couple of weeks ago with dgassaway & gdulin I pulled a metal strap from the smoker. They've only ever burnt K so this was a big WOW to them... Not sure that it was helping to convince them to get rid of the K... 100% natural lump charcoal MY ASS! "No binders or fillers." Mmm-Hmm!

Does Bocephus's lump of concrete look like a fist to anyone else?? It looks angry and possibly violent... I'd steer clear.
