Default Whiskey Barrel UDS

Saw this posted on another site and thought it was awesome. I know a few guys here had gotten some wine barrels and thought this was a great idea if anyone here is interested. I know I'd like one. Seems unsafe to me but it seemed to work. Maybe if you lined the bottom with ungalvanized sheet metal or something. Here is the original link if anyone would like to check it out. Anyway if anyone was wondering what I want for christmas....hint hint

....and no galvanized anything near the heat. far more dangerous to your health than a little fire in a barrel.

They do look nice but would be a PITA. You need to keep barrels full of water so they don’t dry out and fall apart. Filling after a cook and draining before a cook is a turn off for me. YMMV

Cheers
