I used a big ball peem hammer.
I either lay the lid on my small patio or hang it on one of my empty plant holders.

I modded my SS UDS today, since it was a little big for a Weber or Arctic (SS) lid. I added a strip of 1/8" X 1-1/4" SS to the inside of the bead, attached with button head screws. Lid fits good now! I don't have the wherewithal to weld SS- the screws work fine, although it was a chore with a hand drill. Idea here- drill the holes in the strip of metal while it is straight, using a drill press. Then bend it in to place, and drill from the inside out, using the holes in the strip to guide the drill.

Nice work smokemaster!

Was the donor kettle hard to come by in Germany? They are a dime a dozen around here-so I didn't have to "jump through hoops" to get any of mine!

Its nice to be able to use either lid.

This one had been sitting outside an office across from mine for the last 2 years. Finally got in touch with the folks and they were glad to get rid of it. Otherwise they are hard to find.
