Anyone going to this or ever been there? I was thinking about making the haul, my older daughter has off from school so I figured I would rent an rv and head down.

I went to that contest for a couple of years because my older daughter was going to college near there (Guilford) and she and I would do the contest. Well run, lots of teams, great car show. Sometimes it gets a little cold at night, be prepared for that just in case. Very nice contest.

If I can get my contract agency in Charlotte to approve me to drive down rather than fly down I am going to enter.....I did the contest last year, it is a well oiled machine....crowds are great, and the competition is guaranteed to be tough......

Yes, it is a very good event.

Hearsay has it that there was someone there last year that had some magic mojo early Saturday morning and some of the teams did rather well after drinking some of it....

If you get the chance, you need to do it at least once. I would be going to help out Screamin Nite Hog BBQ again, but I will be finishing packing to leave out the following Tuesday evening for a FL trip to cook.

Be sure and check the weather right before you go, as it can be very COLD (where all of the water froze a couple of years ago), or nice (short sleeve t-shirt weather) like it was last year.

I think you need to be there with your coffee... It worked well for me last time in Rocky Mount.

Shelby is a great contest and always full of good comp teams! This will be our 5th year there...it's run well and the last comp of the year for a lot of us Southern Teams. Flavor profile...bring the sweet heat!
