Arrow BBQ Brethren "Shellfish" Throwdown

Our new category is...

"Shellfish"

Photo from The Seoul Times - Assorted Shellfish Buffet at "La Table" of Ibis Ambassador Seoul

...as chosen by The Pickled Pig, the winner of the Chicken Breast Throwdown!

Here is the simple and unchanging list of rules for the BBQ Brethren Throwdown...

1) The item must be either Grilled or Smoked.
2) Entries must be cooked during the current throwdown period ( 10/9 - 10/18 ).
3) All pics (any number) must be submitted by Midnight Central Time on the night of 10/18.
4) Only one picture from one dish will be used for voting, so please specify which one you want used, otherwise I will choose and my decision will be final.
5) If you have any problems with any of the entries, believing them not to be qualified for any reason, please use the ***VOTE*** thread and exercise your power of voting against those entries. Any complaints posted in any Throwdown thread, or directed to me via any other means will be ignored.

The voting will begin Monday 10/19 after I submit the "Vote" thread and will run through Friday 10/23. All votes will be public.

Don't forget the Hot and Spicy Throwdown is still accepting entries until midnight Sunday night (10/11)!

Our next category will be decided by the winner of the Sausage Throwdown.

Best of luck and even better eats to all!

Default Surf And Turf

I found this itsy bitsy teenie weenie mud bug today and thought it might do well wrapped in bacon and paired with fillet and a homemade butternut squash soup.

Default Shellfish medley

Rain, rain rain, no end in sight. Deadline approaching so I decided better today than tomorrow. Added a bit of water protection to the smoker:

The problem with shellfish is overcooking. I was not going to use this to turn the shellfish to rubber. All shellfish was grilled lightly. Tried smoking a paella:

Went with a shellfish medley of shrimp, prawns and scallops:

I tried to make a complete meal. From left to right are lightly seasoned scallops on a bed of spinach and grilled red pepper; prawns (marinated in lime and garlic) on grilled asparagus; shrimp (also marinated in lime and garlic) skewered on rosemary stems and resting on a bed of lettuce with balsamic vinegar dressing; and a mini-paella served in the shell with grilled red pepper, shrimp and scallop (marinated and seasoned with paprika).
