Madison Themed Dessert

[Double D's BBQ]

This question relates to the Madison, IN contest to be held next month. Madison is celebrating its bicentenially and the theme for the dessert contest this year is "Madison Themed" dessert. Does anyone have a clue as to what this means. There is no explanation on the contest website. I received an email from the organizers of the contest that they have received our application so I asked them but that was just this morning.

I was hoping that someone from Indiana might be able to explain this to me. Otherwise its going to be some kind of cheese cake perhaps with Dolly Madison toppings. Ho Ho's or Twinkies?

Ok, here is the official response I received a little while ago regarding the Madison Themed Dessert Category.


This year is Madison's Bicentennial - celebrating 200 years! Therefore, we have challenged the cooks to come up with a Madison-themed dessert. It can be about Madison's past, current locations or events, its 200th birthday, etc. As you can tell, it will be a challenge. I mentioned you could go to our city's website and its links www.visitmadison.org to get ideas. We will include a 3 X 5 index card with the container: on the card you can name your dessert and then tell how its Madison themed. The explanation will be part of the appearance/presentation score. Believe it or not, I talked this over with a rep and a board member and they think its a wonderful idea and are anxious to see what type of desserts the cooks come up with--I am too!
