Association Membership

Is bbq association membership required to enter a sanctioned competition?

I have been looking over the rules and reading the sites of a couple bbq associations and must be missing the answer somewhere.

If membership is required, does membership in one organization carry over to another? (i.e., MBN member, KCBS contest)

Or do I need to join each one? Looks like around my travel zone there are 3 associations (KCBS, MBN, and IBCA).

I'm sure an expert will chime in w/ more info, but I know that KCBS membership is not required to enter a KCBS sanctioned comp.

Not required to compete
I sometimes give discounts to CBBQA Members
equal to membership cost
