Default Grinder recommendations

Wifie has been asking me to post this awhile. She wants to get a $99 electric meat grinder at our Gander Mountain store, and I have seen good reviews of them from other sites.

But what say the Brethren? We'll use it for grinding our own beef and goat for burgers, etc. Are there features we ought to look for? Others you like better for the same money?

This works really well if you have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer. It has two plate sizes. Add the stuffer attachment and you are a sausage makin' fool!

I guess it depends on how often and how much meat you intend to grind. I started out with one of those cheapy grinders , similar to the $99 one at ganders. It served me well for couple of years until the gears stripped out. I bit the bullet and bought the 1/2 hp commercial unit at Cabela's

I cant throw meat in it fast enough to slow it down. it's a real machine!

Ditto, I have the same one and 2 guys cant feed it fast enough.

Well, thanks, but $300+ is outside my budget for something that it remains to be seen how much it will be used. It may end up on the shelf next to the food dehydrator, the bread machine (never used!), the hot sandwich press, the...

i have that same grinder but got it on sale for $50ish. it's ok for doing small batches(under 50lbs).

im with patio daddio, the kitchen aid stand mixer is a great meat grinder, I use it all the time for my burgers, coarse grind, top round roast, chuck steak, and a little pork belly for the extra goodness.

I got that one for Kitchen Aid off Amazon and I am trying it tonight and making cheeseburgers - can't wait!!! Thanks for the advise\info guys

More power, just like that damn 100 dollar slicer, although with grinding meat you can go slow and drink beer and the same time, with the slicer it takes two hands......as Tim the Tool Man would say........MORE POWER!!!!

I would just say to buy the best you can afford. If the 100 buck one is what you can afford, so be it.
